I love this album simply because I do. Hard to find the appropriate words to explain it. Perhaps it's all about the blend among rhythmic noise & some sort of far neoclassic acoustics. Nevertheless it sounds like Dante's decline to hell... Hell on Earth. Jacob's Lather, five stars.

We are trapped in a room made of mirror walls shaken by wild compositions, ready to burst in keen shrapnels gashing our identity on its breaking point.
However, the purpose here is not to irreversibly wound us, but rather to lead us to a threshold. To reach the moment where we decide that the violence surrounding us is enough, that we can't stand the state of the world and what we've become anymore.
An apparent pond of destruction hiding a gush of hope where we'll find what to fight demons of. Favorite track: A Sharp Blow In Passing.

Ben Frost has announced details of his fifth studio album, The Centre Cannot Hold, out on 29 September 2017.
The Centre Cannot Hold was recorded over ten days by Steve Albini in Chicago. The music exists not in space, but in a space; it is a document of an event, of a room, and of the composer within it. It is music that is not fully controlled and appears to be anxiously, often violently competing against its creator.
An exercise in limitation and chromatic saturation, The Centre Cannot Hold is an attempt at transcribing a spectrum of glowing ultramarine into sound.

Ben Frost released Threshold Of Faith, a seven-track 12” and digital EP, last month. Pitchfork describe the track title track as “moving from heroic vistas into a garbled, snow-blinded melee. Distant choral pads, a glistening upper-register sheen, submerged piano, and groaning harmonies all stack up into a geologic crescendo that extends into infinity.” while The 405 describe the EP as “scorching and beautiful”.

Listening to a Tim Hecker album is rarely ever a time to skip between songs or chose one track in the middle to start things off. Saying that, This Life is a perfect way to begin this audio experience. What I love most about this album though is how Tim seems to be evolving as a musician, patiently honing his skills, and fine tuning his craft. His works improve with each progressive album, while new experiments are woven into the tracks, he still manages to retain his signature sound.
